Hello., the subject controller has apparently failed.
It did so immediately after I installed an AVG internet security product. The failure may be a result of the AV product installation or the timing of the failure my be just a coincidence. The AV product identified files f.exe and tbhost.exe as infected and removed them. I don't know if either of these files are tied to the product's drivers. I am using a windows 7 home premium operating system
I did download new dirvers for the product (install_win7_7090_11252014 (32 bit)) and installed them on the computer. The controller shows that it is using driver version 7.90.826.2014 dated 8/26/2014. However the general information on the controller reads 'The device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (code 31).'

However, when I went to go through any and all items that could possibly interfere with NIC operation I noticed that the software was malfunctioning despite not having a yellow exclamation on the gold shield like it normally would when there is a problem with it. I ended up uninstalling it along with the NIC drivers again, and then reinstalled both again (in reverse order) and am happy to report that both PCs are up and running again.
Long story short, even though the software is compatible, it is probably a good idea to uninstall AV software prior to upgrading the OS in the event that you have to downgrade back since it doesn't always do so cleanly.
I also learned in previous Windows 10 rollbacks (unrelated to this instance) that it is a bad idea to uninstall software that was present in the previous OS while you are still in Windows 10 if there's a chance you may roll back since some of those removed elements will still linger if you roll back and will require an uninstaller cleanup.
