Unfortunately, ProjectX has now probably come to the end of it life as more and more TV stations are using H.264 AVC in their Transport Streams. I have been using it a lot over the last 7 years also and found it great for cutting out beginnings, ads and endings to mpeg-2 TS files.
I did edit the X.ini file as stated below with:
OptionPanel.enableHDDemux=1
SubtitlePanel.enableHDSub=1
Unfortunately, this is pretty much useless. With an MPEG-4/H.264 TS file, picture decoding is not possible and there is no preview. That is the end of cutting.
It does demux a TS file with H.264 AVC to a video file with a dot 264 extension and audio dot ac3 in my case. This could be raw H.264 video as 3 players I tried could not play it. Again useless.
For the 10% of mpeg-2 TS files that seem to be transmitted now, I may still use it, but it's time to move on and find something else.

I've been using this to edit and demux digital TV files for about 7 years now and absolutely love it. Works everytime and cleans up transmission errors. I wish I read German and I did do a course years ago in technical German so I sort of can get the gist of some text anyhow there is always Chrome. Today I was looking at the German forum site and found this item on H264. I don't have any TS files with H264 video so I can't test this workaround.
If you edit the X.ini file found within the ProjectX install file to add the following
OptionPanel.enableHDDemux=1
SubtitlePanel.enableHDSub=1
Apparently you can then demux and do a 1:1 copy ONLY and no preview, so no editing
For setting ProjectX up for Australian TV visit http://www.openwiz.org/wiki/ProjectX (not always working btw!)

MY OLD PROBLEM : I did eventually get this to work. It was conflicting with another program
MY RATINGS : I would give this application 9-10 across the board, except it includes no documentation and there are English ones on the web site (the site is also in German).
A *VERY* large issue is the total lack of HD support, given that HD DVB video streams, now now make up over 2/3 of digital broadcasts.
Most of the time this tool is used as An editor to remove commercials and past multiple TS streams together into a single output file (or demuxed files) and that is a lot less useful these days without HD support.

From all I hear this is a wonderful program, and the only one that deal well with DVB and telnet subtitles. I managed to get it to DEMUX which it did quite well. However, that is the only thing it could do.
I tried to find out why however there appears to be no documentation of any kind that is in ENGLISH and the site (http://forum.dvbtechnics.info/) which has the user forums is an ALL GERMAN web site. Had it not been for my High School German (in 1979 and quite poor now from lack of use) I would not have managed to even create an account there, as the google web site translation tool (for web pages) does not work with that site very well (it does not move from page to page when translation the site, or believe you are even logged in).
** PROBLEM ONE - Can't see the video in any file (with rare unexplained exceptions)
The program runs and comes up - however - in my copy of PROJECTX (brand new from SourceForge) when I bring the program up and load a file, all I can do is DEMUX. I cannot edit. No matter what file I load I cannot PREVIEW or edit (the software always tells me - next to the lower right edge of where the video ought to appear that 'Preview is not available'.
So I just can't see any of the video in order to try to create chapters or cuts (not that there is any documentation telling me how to do this anyway).
I do not have trouble in general with video software. I can use VLC fine (for playing and re-encoding to other formats) however VLC does not honor teletext when converting files. You can;'t use it to produce an H.264 with teletext, and you also cannot edit using it.
** TRYING TO MAKE THINGS WORK
Well of course I Tried 'Help' on the menu. It is not very useful. Why? Well, there are some good reasons.
*) The 'What's new' link gives me a blank page.
*) The link for 'NAQs & FAQs' link yields information under 'Hints' that is not useful (it is inaccurate) - for instance - there is no such thing as a set of menu choices that leads a person to : record -> Project X -> ifoedit -> DVD.
There is no 'RECORD' option anywhere in any of the menus; not unless they mean a 'RECORD' button (with no text on it, or even a pop-up 'hint'). Perhaps it is somewhere buried deep in the program - or perhaps (more likely) this information refers to a version of PROJECTX that does not exist for windows, or to a version that is very very old).
So ... being used to working my way through annoying / undocumented software, I tried looking for a HELP file, but HELP gives me a list of links!!!
There is no included HELP file, or a set of HTML files for various languages (very odd) or even an online manual that is not in German. The site listed under help (www.lucike.info) is (again) in GERMAN and the links for documentation are for PROJECTS version 0.81.6. The online documentation is in German (only).
I want to use this program to EDIT (keep/remove) the correct portions of my TS DVB files and then DEMUX them so I can create a REMUXED version that includes the teletext SUBTITLES (without any extra junk in the file). I can DEMUX a file, but I cannot edit it at all. All I get (before and after loading a files is 'Preview is not Available'.
There is no english documentation there are no ENGLISH forums where I can ask question other than the ones at (forum.videolan.org) and this web site abuses the various anti-spam lists and uses them to block all IP addresses from accessing the forums if they are on even one of their many lists. Most of these anti=spam sites state flatly that it is ABUSE of the sites database to use it to block access to web sites (including forums) and they strongly discourage this. After all, if everyone did that, nobody could even get any help with a virus/botnet infection. This is why it is considered abuse of the databases, especially given that none of the database sites are perfect, and a few are known for even blocking entire ranges of IP address (even an entire ISP - indefinitely) based on a single complaint or (possible...or in error) detection.
Incidentally, my ISP is the largest satellite ISP for Asia Pacific and its entire IP range is blocked by one of the sites (supposedly for spam abuse about 7 years ago - however there is no way to KNOW the actual origin of any piece of spam because an email is just a text file and even the tracking data can be 'spoofed').

Any news of H264 support for ProjectX? It would make life so much simpler.

Project X was nabbed 8.7 million times (right on par with last year’s winner/loser, Fast Five); alongside it were surprises 21 Jump Street, The Dictator, and Ice Age: Continental Drift as well as box office biggies like The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, and Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol.
