in the past I’ve been able to click a video in iCloud drive, and the option to ‘save to camera roll’ has been there. From there, I can use the instagram app and it will find the video stored in my photos/videos on the phone.
Now this option isn’t there. I can’t find a way to save the mp4 files to my phone at all. It’s not a huge file (35MB) but sending it to myself by email hasn’t worked.
Clicking 'open with instagram’ on the video in iCloud Drive does nothing, the menu goes away but it doesn’t open. If I click ‘open with winzip’ it will open in that app and allow me to play, but again gives me no option to save.

I use this method for Google Drive, I think it's OK for iCloud Drive. Touch the three vertical dots and there will be the 'Send a copy' option; Now, as you will see, there will be 'Save Video', it will start exporting and your video will be saved in the roll

Although iTunes is the default application that manages your iPhone, you can use the 'Import Pictures and Videos' utility or Windows Explorer to transfer photos from the iPhone's Camera Roll to your Windows computer. The Import Pictures and Videos utility enables you to delete the images from the Camera Roll after you transfer them to the computer. If you use Windows Explorer, you need to manually delete the photos on the phone when you are finished.
1.Connect the iPhone to your computer using the Lightning to USB cable that came with the device.
2.Press 'Windows-X' to expand the Power User menu and choose 'File Explorer' from the menu to launch the File Explorer app.
3.Right-click the iPhone's logo in the left pane and choose 'Import pictures and videos' from the context menu to open the Import Pictures and Videos window.
4.Click 'More Options' and then click the 'Browse' button in the Import Images To section. Select the folder where you want to move the photos and click 'OK.' Check the 'Delete files from device after importing' box to remove the pictures from the Camera Roll after the transfer is complete.
5.Click 'OK' to apply the new settings and then click the 'Import' button to start importing the photos. The photos are displayed in File Explorer after the import is complete.
Tips
- To use File Explorer to copy the photos, open the drive assigned by Windows to your iPhone and then open the 'Internal StorageDCIM100APPLE' folder. Select all photos by pressing 'Ctrl-A' and then press 'Ctrl-C' to copy them to the clipboard. Select a folder on the hard disk and press 'Ctrl-V' to paste the photos from the clipboard into the folder.
- You must manually delete the photos from the Camera Roll if you transfer them to the computer using File Explorer.
- If the Import Pictures and Videos wizard doesn't import all photos, you need to use Windows Explorer to copy the rest of the photos into the same folder.
Warnings
- You can import only photos taken with the iPhone's camera. Content transferred from iTunes cannot be copied.
- Information in this article applies to the iPhone 5, 5C and 5S. It may vary slightly or significantly with other versions or products.
